Centamin Raises Dividend 675%

Written by MrStockFox. Posted in Dividends

Today I read the news and my first thought was that this was too good to be true.  Someone messed up somewhere.  But I double checked and triple checked the report and everything seems to line up.  Last fiscal year, Centamin paid out a total dividend of 2.94 cents per share.  This year they have dramatically increased the dividend due to the large cash buildup.  For 2016, they have decided to payout a total of 15.5 cents per share( Proposed final dividend of 13.5 US cents per share + the 2 US cent per share interim dividend last October ).  I own 20,060 shares, so with this raise my annual income has increased by $2306.90 for a total dividend payment in May 2017 of $2708.10.  I still cannot believe my eyes for the numbers that I am typing on this page.  I totally expect that the dividend will go back down next year, but its sure nice to receive the high payout and reward share holders.  This one dividend payout will make up 20% of my total income for the entire year.

You can view some of my past updates on the company here.

Operational Highlights

  • Production of 551,036 ounces, a 26% increase on 2015 and above the revised guidance range.
  • Cash cost of production of US$513 per ounce, down from US$713 per ounce in 2015 and below the revised guidance range, driven by higher production and reductions in mine production costs, mainly due to lower fuel prices.
  • All-in sustaining costs (AISC) of US$694 per ounce, down from US$885 per ounce in 2015 and below the revised guidance range, due to the factors affecting the cash cost of production.
  • Record processing throughput of 11.6Mt, an increase of 9% on 2015 and above our base case forecast rate of 11Mtpa.
  • Record open pit total material movement (waste plus ore) of 62.2Mt, an increase of 8% on 2015.
  • Underground ore mined 1.02Mt (down 12% 2015) at a grade of 9.04g/t (up 40% on 2015), achieving a sustained annualised rate above our base case forecast of 1Mt per annum at a grade of at least 6g/t.
  • 2017 guidance of 540,000 ounces of gold at US$580 per ounce cash cost of production and US$790 AISC.
  • A new discovery from exploration in Côte d'Ivoire, with a maiden resource of 0.3Moz at 1.6g/t Indicated and 1.0Moz at 1.3g/t Inferred covering five prospects within a 5km radius area and remaining open at depth and along strike.
  • Evaluation of results from Burkina Faso is ongoing, which will guide further drilling planned for 2017.

Financial Highlights

  • Basic earnings per share of 18.61 US cents, up 313% on the prior year. Profit sharing with the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority ("EMRA") commenced during Q3 2016, with earnings per share (before profit share) of 23.05 US cents, up 411% on the prior year.
  • Centamin remains debt-free and unhedged with cash, bullion on hand, gold sales receivable and available-for-sale financial assets of US$428 million at 31 December 2016, up 85% (2015 US$231 million).

Ending 2016 with a Bang

Dividend Income

If you wish to view any of my past monthly updates you can find them here.

One of my 2016 goals was to hit $10,000 in future annual income.  I honestly didn't think I would come close, let alone blow the number out of the water by $708.  I started the year in a good place with $5645 of income and managed to practically double that by adding $5063.  In three years, I have gone from basically zero dollars of dividend income to now earning more than $10,000 in a given year.  for 2017 I have my heart set on hitting $15,000.  At the time of this writing my income is currently at $10,912, so by the end of this year I will have to accumulate $4100 more in future income. (I'll go over this more in my 2017 goals)

Not only did hit my goal for total income, I ended the month of December with $1427.52, breaking the 4 digit market for the first time.  Approx. $900 I totally expected but what I did not expect was around $500 in dividend income paid out by my purchase of GDXJ. I only planned to commit $60,000 for the full year of 2016. Well I blew that out the water by beating it by almost 17%.   I managed to add $12,097.25 for December, ending the year on a high note by adding almost $70,000 in new capital.

Going into the detail, my monthly income was 189% higher than the same month a year ago and up 91% over last quarter.  My portfolio value increased from $271,893 to $288,367.

Current Stats

Dividend Income Update Nov 2016

Dividend Income

If you wish to view any of my past monthly updates you can find them here.

I am happy to report that this month I achieved my goal of hitting $10,000 in future dividend income.  This is one of the goals that I honestly did not think that I could achieve but I guess that is why you have goals.  In less than three years I have gone from basically zero dollars of dividend income to now earning more than $10,000 in a given year.  WOW!  I am at the point now where I am really starting to see the compounding happening each and every month.  Lets say that hypothetically all my positions raise by 6% this next year, I will have earned an extra $600 by doing absolutely nothing.  I love that feeling.

Going into the detail, my monthly income was 106% higher than the same month a year ago and up 12% over last quarter.  I took in a whopping $802.94 for the month of November.  My portfolio value increased from $258,131 to $271,893 which also includes my contributions of $6098.  Overall my portfolio gained around $6861 in value or 2.66% last month if you take out my contributions.

Dividend Income Update Oct 2016

Written by MrStockFox. Posted in Dividends

Dividend Income

If you wish to view any of my past monthly updates you can find them here.

This month was a frustrating one, although very successful.  I was only $10 away from entering into the quadruple digit club. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy at my progress this month.  My next shot will most likely come next year, possibly as early as May to break the $1,000 in monthly dividends.  In 3 short years I have taken my dividend income from virtually nothing to almost $1000 a month.

Looking at things in more detail, my monthly income was 149% higher than the same month a year ago and up 198% over last quarter.  I took in a whopping $990.37 for the month of October.  My portfolio value increased from $256,261 to $258,131 which also includes my contributions of $8455.  Overall my portfolio lost around $7576 in value or 2.96% last month if you take out my contributions.

I continue to make steady progress towards hitting my $10,000 dividend income goal by the end of the year.  At the end of October, my 12 month future dividend income came in at $9716. That number is up from $9400 last month.

Current Stats
  • 12 Month Income = $6650
  • Total 12 Month Future Dividends = $9716

This month I am providing a new graph which shows my historical and projected income. Each of the dips on the red curve are months in which I received major dividend cuts.  I have always seems to bounce back each and every month.

Written by MrStockFox. Posted in Dividends

If there was one company that I would love to own $20,000 in, it would be Starbucks. But I can't justify the valuation right now to go in big.  I plan to continue picking away at a couple shares at a time while its around 52 but in order for me to go in big I would like to see it fall to around 46.  I may consider selling some put options here soon as an alternative.
