Dividend Income Update March 2015

Dividend Income

Another month has passed and its now time to update what I made in dividend income.  This month was a huge month in terms of income I received. If you wish to view any of my past monthly updates you can find them here.

In March, I took in $345.68, which is 779% higher than the income I took in from a year ago.  NEW RECORD!  My income from the last 12 months also increased from $1677.81 to $1984.17.  One of my goals is to have this number never to decrease in value(always growing).

The biggest news this month was the 64% increase in the dividend of Centamin.   With this news my income will increase by of over $200 a year.

Monthly Capital Contribution

The total value of my Dividend Portfolio decreased by almost $2,000 this month and I had $4500 of new capital contributions.  The current value is at $79063.  Below you can view the total contributions made to my Dividend Portfolio since inception along with the 12 month total.  Currently my 12 month capital contribution total is coming in at $44445 which is up almost $1500 over last month. Over time I would like to see the red moving average continue to increase over time.

I finished the refinancing of my home which freed up some extra capital this month.  I was able to lock in a 15 year at 3.25%, cutting almost 2 years off my mortgage and the refi only cost me around $500.  Hell Yes!

Portfolio Weighting

dividends

Basic Materials dropped a couple percentage points this month due to some profit taking on a couple positions but my energy weighting has greatly increased.  I continue to add to the quality positions suchs as XOM, BP, RDS'b, and CVX.  I am not really too concerned at certain sectors being over weigh at this time.  I am in the accumulation mode and right now I continue to focus on what Mr. Market is providing as cheap.

Next Month

Looking forward to April I anticipate some large contributions this month due to an overly large tax refund.  I hope to put to work $5000 - $8000.  My dividend income though will only come in at around $180 this month.  I am really looking forward to May when I should receive almost $500.

I continue to like XOM, CVX IBM, BNS, RY, TD, HP, NOV, EMR, PM, BAX, CAT, SII.to, KO, PG, JNJ, TROW

Heinz and Kraft to Merge

Written by MrStockFox. Posted in Dividends

Pretty significant deal, here are the details:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/9-5b-kraft-heinz-buffett-120526263.html

Warren Buffett said Wednesday that Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A) will have $9.5 billion worth of common stock in the newly merged H.J. Heinz-Kraft Foods (NASDAQ: KRFT) company.

The combination of the food giants-announced just hours before Buffett's " Squawk Box " interview-was in the works for about four weeks, the billionaire investor said: "It moved along quite promptly."

He said he plans to stay invested in The Kraft Heinz Co. "forever," and feels the brands of Kraft and Heinz as enduring. The CEO of Heinz, Bernardo Hees, will run the new company.

Under the terms of the deal, Heinz will return to the public market with a 51 percent ownership of the new company. Current holders of Kraft stock will own 49 percent.

Kraft shareholders will receive stock in the combined company, and a special cash dividend of $16.50 per share, financed by a $10 billion investment from Brazilian private-equity firm 3G Capital and Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A).

Dividend Income Update Feb 2015

Dividend Income

Another month has passed and its now time to update what I made in dividend income.  This month was a pretty slow month in terms of income received. If you wish to view any of my past monthly updates you can find them here.

In Feb, I took in $152.41, which is 393% higher than the income I took in from a year ago.  My income from the last 12 months also increased from $1556.30 to $1677.81.  One of my goals is to have this number never to decrease in value.

The biggest news this month was the 80% decrease in the dividend of ESV.  I had a feeling that this was coming soon.  This hit my portfolio in a big way with an overall decrease in income of over $200.  I'm going to have to make some major contributions later in the year to make up for this income loss.  Ouch!

Monthly Capital Contribution

The total value of my Dividend Portfolio increased by over $4,000 this month, which $1800 was due to new capital contributions.  The current value is at $80,993.  Below you can view the total contributions made to my Dividend Portfolio since inception along with the 12 month total.  Currently my 12 month captial contribution total is coming in at $42941. Over time I would like to see the red moving average to increase over time.

This month I contributed less that I wanted to but currently have a couple things going on at the moment were I needed the extra cash.  Currently I am in the process of refinancing my home from 4.15% 20 year loan, to 3.25% 15 year loan.  My payments only go up by $30 a month but I save on almost 2 full years of payments as my current loan only has 17 years left.  I'm not sure how much I will need at closing so currently I am holding back on some funds.  Also this month I have finally paid off my car which was one of my goals last year but didn't successfully finish that goal by December.  This will save over $500 a month in outgoing expenses.  It will be nice to have extra cash to add to positions that I like.

Portfolio Weighting

Over the past month I was finally able to figure out how to track my portfolio weighting inside of google spreadsheets.  I always new that it was heavy on the Basic Materials and Energy side of things and the graph below clearly shows that.

dividends

Both Energy and Basic Materials dropped a couple percentage points this point due to taking profits on a couple positions as well as my large investment into BAX. I am not really too concerned at certain sectors being over weigh at this time.  I am in the accumulation mode and right now I continue to focus on what Mr. Market is providing as cheap.

Next Month

I continue to like XOM, CVX, BP, WMB, OKE, TRGP, IBM, BNS, RY, TD, HP, NOV, EMR, PM, BAX, CAT, SII.to
